Where this blog will fit in, I don't know. At the very least, I'll be using it to host a new podcast, which will be like the old podcast but better!

The question I'm still struggling with is how to sort out my use of facebook and twitter, and how to get started blogging again on my professional blog. I know that I need to simplify, or at least clarify for myself how I'm using all these channels for publishing, consuming, and interacting.

The first order of business is to start to build new blogging habits. It has been a few years since I've blogged regularly and with any specific intent, so I know that if I'm going to having any success with this new effort I'm going to have to get into a routine so that coming up with ideas and sharing them here feels natural and happens almost automatically.

I don't expect that this will be easy, given the other demands on my time and attention. But I believe that it is important enough to try, and I know that I can do it. So now that I'm done fiddling with the layout, design, and other settings, I can finally focus on blogging.Quietlofthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07681026819263614244noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1746454725830020502.post-21957133855861480672015-09-30T21:09:00.000-04:002015-09-30T21:09:31.903-04:00Hello, World!I’ve been spending some time thinking about how I can improve my use of online tools like blogs and social media to share my ideas and connect with people. Although I’ve been ‘online’ for quite some time now, I was feeling that my skills and knowledge were stagnating or at least had plateaued and were in need of rejuvenation.

After mapping out my ideas of the people I wanted to connect with and some of the ways I might be able to contribute or help, I realized that I needed a space to be able to share longer ideas in a public way. A blog seemed like a good place to start. I also wanted it to be easy and to “just work”: I’m eager to get started and didn’t want to get bogged down with the minutia of setting up, designing, and configuring a blog. So I dug up this old Blogspot blog, polished up a fresh look for it, and here we are!

As I said, I have plans and I’m eager to get started putting them into action. This obligatory ‘hello, world!” post was the last thing I had to do before I could check off the “set up blog” task as complete, so I think I’ll end this here so that I can move on and get a start on… well, on whatever this is going to turn out to be!
